Teenagers in Charge, TIC is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization structured and designed with a full agenda geared toward enhancing the lives of our youth, ages 10 to 17 years old that reside in Philadelphia.
TIC hosts various community service projects at Rose Playground located at 1200 N. 75th Street near 75th and Lansdowne Ave. in West Philadelphia. When in session, TIC hours are from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday excluding holidays and inclement weather. TIC has been more deliberate in meeting teens where they are and will go directly to them to host program activities during the week and weekends.
The programs empower teenagers to take a stand as well as take charge of their lives, education, and social issues. It is for those who are serious about being leaders that are chosen to become members.
TIC focuses on a theme each month as it incorporates various workshops and activities. The youth participants choose topics based on the degree of importance. Some topics include community outreach, environmental awareness, career awareness, cultural enrichment, and teen sexuality just to name a few.
TIC proposes that teenagers who are involved in this movement will get an overall perception of their surroundings as well as building up their self-esteem. The support they receive form their parents, peers, and mentors will enable them to use the knowledge they have gained for future resources. Throughout the year, TIC will make considerable efforts in recruiting young people. All active mentors and teens reside in Philadelphia and throughout the metropolitan area. TIC welcomes all interested young adults who are interested in a positive and structured program.
