ABOUT T.I.C.
Teenagers in Charge, T.I.C. is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization structured and designed with a full agenda geared toward enhancing the lives of our youth, ages 13 to 19 years old that reside in Philadelphia.
T.I.C. is facilitated at the Francis Myers Recreational Center located at 5800 Kingsessing Ave. in Southwest Philadelphia. T.I.C. hours are from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM every Saturday excluding holidays and inclement weather. Other program activities are held during the week.
The programs empower teenagers to take a stand as well as take charge of their lives, education, and social issues. It is for those who are serious about being leaders that are chosen to become members.
T.I.C. focuses on a theme each month as it incorporates various workshops and activities. The youth participants choose topics based on the degree of importance. Some topics include community outreach, environmental awareness, career awareness, cultural enrichment, and teen sexuality just to name a few.
T.I.C. proposes that teenagers who are involved in this movement will get an overall perception of their surroundings as well as building up their self-esteem. The support they receive form their parents, peers, and mentors will enable them to use the knowledge they have gained for future resources. Throughout the year, T.I.C. will make considerable efforts in recruiting young people. All active mentors and teens reside in Philadelphia and throughout the metropolitan area. T.I.C. welcomes all interested young adults who are interested in a positive and structured program.
