Message From the President and Founder
It seems like only moments ago when I sat in my bedroom thinking of creative
ways to address some of the issues that our youth face today. In my mind, I thought that I could save the world. I envisioned acting on the saying, "Each one-Teach one" and if everyone came together, what a difference we could make.
The organization has grown through leaps and bounds over the ten years and our young people are absolutely phenomenal. T.I.C. has reached over 1,500 youth who reside in the City of Philadelphia and its surrounding counties. Our program has helped to pave the way for youth who had the audacity to be positive individuals. TIC has become comfortable with self, explore their cultural surroundings and be aware of the community in which they live. T.I.C. has helped youth to walk away with lessons on leadership, health, self-esteem, which eventually helped them become responsible young adults.
It has been remarkable to see the progress of youth who An Ordinary Life Is not A life Lived. Be Inspired
were reserved and unresponsive. A joy to help youth participants to improve academically and see them graduate from high school to attend a post-secondary educational institution when there was initially no interest. As well as see former youth participants return to serve as mentors-that speaks volumes!
Be Positive
Be Extra-Ordinary Take Charge!
I may not get the opportunity to reach all youth in every city and around the world who we often hear about as the victims of some of our social ills such as domestic violence, teen pregnancy, or substance abuse. But, I am looking forward to expanding the program to other cities.
In the next few years...I plan to pass the torch to Jala Makeda McDaniel, my daughter, who will be a pre-teen and I envision will participate, facilitate and operate one the the T.I.C. chapters for her generation. She will be a teenager. To God be the Glory!
